the medical studies program. Please note that if admission is not granted until the end of the second week after the start of the semester, it must be determined whether regular participation in the courses can still be guaranteed. Otherwise, these courses can only be taken again in the following winter semester.
Please note the following:

BASIS is the central campus management system at the University of Bonn. This is where you will find the university's electronic course catalog. As a student, you can register for courses and print out certificates here. The system is also used university-wide for a variety of other processes.
To log in to BASIS, you need your university ID and password, which you will receive together with your enrollment confirmation.
You must register for all courses requiring enrollment in BASIS in time; participation is only possible if you have registered by the deadline! As a student, you are responsible for ensuring that your course registrations are complete, so be sure to check your registrations under “Enrolled Courses” immediately after registering to make sure they are complete!
If you have any problems or questions regarding BASIS registration, please contact the pre-clinical program coordinator in good time to ensure that you can register by the deadline. Registration after the deadline is no longer possible; only compulsory courses that have been registered for may be attended!
The registration windows for the higher semesters are in March for the summer semester and in September for the winter semester.
The mentoring program is primarily intended to make it easier for students in their first pre-clinical semester to get started with their studies. It gives them the opportunity to approach fellow students in the clinical section and benefit from their experiences. The mentors are available as regular points of contact for any problems and help with questions about studying and student life in Bonn.
Another important goal is to give first-year students a better understanding of the medical significance of the basic subjects through concise case studies, thereby increasing their motivation and enjoyment of learning. By working on the cases in a relaxed atmosphere, students lose their fear of reading short specialist texts on their own and learn to apply their newly acquired knowledge to clinical questions together.
Participation in the mentoring program is voluntary. At the beginning of the semester, new students have the opportunity to register for one of the seminar groups offered by the mentors. Through this, the dates can be coordinated without overlapping with the preclinical timetables.
Study Progression
Students who are enrolled at a German university and wish to earn credits at our faculty (“partial cross-registration”) must register at the University of Bonn and pay a registration fee. Information and forms can be found here.
The following steps are required:
1. Dean's Office, Faculty of Medicine
Admission is only possible if there are free places available in the relevant course and the total number of participants does not exceed the available capacity. Before the subject representative can give a binding commitment, questions regarding free places and group allocation for the course must therefore be clarified. To this end, it is essential that those interested in guest student status visit the Dean's Office and have the capacity confirmed. A binding commitment can only be given once the admission and division of our regular students has been completed. This is usually the case no later than one week after the start of the semester.
2. Subject representative
Using the appropriate forms (guest student application + attachment), you must then ask the respective subject representative for admission to the course and confirmation on the form.
3. Student Secretariat, University of Bonn
The completed application must then be submitted to the Student Secretariat at the University of Bonn together with proof of payment of the guest student fee.
4. For clinical courses: Occupational Health Service
To be admitted to clinical courses, you need a certificate issued by the Occupational Health Service confirming that you have undergone the mandatory occupational health check-up in accordance with § 4 ArbMedVV. You can find all the relevant information here.
5. Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine
Since partial cross-registered students are not regularly enrolled at the University of Bonn, it is necessary to fill out the registration form in order to collect the data required for issuing the transcript of records.
After registering at the University of Bonn, this form must be submitted to the Dean's Office together with all the necessary documents.
Please note that, based on experience, all capacities are regularly exhausted in both preclinical and clinical courses.
NOTE
The Human Medicine Examination Board has determined that guest students may not take exams in isolation, but must participate in the course and the exam in order to obtain transcripts. In addition, the regulations of the study and examination regulations regarding restrictions on the number of attempts, withdrawal from courses, etc. also apply to guest students (see Examination Office page).
Reporting cancelled classes
The Faculty of Medicine seeks to minimize the number of canceled classes. Therefore, we would like to inform you about the procedure for managing canceled classes. You, the students of human medicine in the clinical phase of your studies, play a central role in this process. We kindly ask you to report canceled classes accordingly. A class is deemed canceled if the lecturer has not appeared more than 15 minutes after the official start time.
