Skillslab - Interdisciplinary training facility for the training of clinical-practical skills at the Bonn Medical Faculty
We, the Skillslab Bonn, are an interdisciplinary training facility that aims to provide continuous practice-oriented training for students of human medicine. We provide students with opportunities to learn and practice clinical skills and competencies, including communication and interprofessionalism, in a safe and controlled environment before applying them in real patient care.
We actively support the clinics and institutes of the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital Bonn in teaching clinical-practical skills and competencies to prospective physicians by
- teaching clinical-practical skills and competencies in our own peer-to-peer courses,
- providing the spatial and technical framework for curricular and extracurricular courses conducted by clinics in the Skillslab Bonn,
- supporting the development and implementation of effective course formats and teaching innovations in the Faculty's degree programs with a focus on human medicine.

Definition of successful learning
For us, successful learning in the Skillslab Bonn means
- teaching clinical-practical skills and competencies including communication and interprofessionalism for scientifically sound medical practice,
- actively developing and practising these in small group arrangements on site and supplemented by (online) learning materials for preparation and follow-up,
- to reflect together on their use in human medical practice and, above all
- a permanent active process on the part of the learners, which includes the preparation and follow-up of both Skillslab Bonn courses and their application in academic examinations and medical practice from the clinical traineeship through the practical year to the first years of professional practice using provided and self-researched scientifically based learning materials.
