At the end of August, the 39th conference of the European Health Psychology Society (EHPS) took place in Groningen. Guided by the motto “Putting Health Psychology to Work: Prevention, Practice and Policy”, the conference offered a wealth of inspiring talks, discussion rounds, and poster sessions.
Our two PhD students, Rebecca Blase and Alice Seffen, presented their current research projects and discussed them with international experts. Rebecca gave a talk on how the source of information influences whether health-related misinformation can be corrected. Alice presented an intervention study examining whether self-control strategies can help people adopt healthier and more sustainable eating habits. In addition, Alice had the opportunity to chair an engaging poster session on the topic “consequences of climate change and how we deal with them.”
Besides the scientific highlights, we were also impressed by the city and its atmosphere: Groningen is not only beautiful but also a showcase for sustainable mobility. A special highlight was the conference dinner held in the historic Martini Church in the heart of Groningen – an impressive setting to round off the conference days together.
We return home with plenty of inspiration, valuable feedback for our ongoing research projects, and new ideas for future studies. We are already looking forward to the next EHPS!
