Dr. Laura Kilarski
Dr. Laura Kilarski is a resident physician and researcher at the Department for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at University Hospital Bonn (UKB), working in the Section of Psychiatric Genomics and Epigenomics lead by Prof. Dr. Dr. Eva-Christina Schulte. Her scientific work is centered on pharmacogenetics and neuropsychiatric genomics.
After obtaining a bachelor degree in biochemistry at Warwick University and a master’s in neuroscience at University College London, Dr. Kilarski completed her PhD on genetic aspects of early-onset Parkinson’s disease at Cardiff University. After studying human medicine at the University of Cologne, Dr. Kilarski joined the UKB in 2021.
As part of the Neuro-aCSis program, Dr. Kilarski will investigate the genetic architecture and clinical heterogeneity of Post-COVID Syndrome, with a particular focus on its neuropsychiatric manifestations, by applying advanced statistical genetics to the deeply phenotyped NAPKON (Nationale Pandemie Kohorten Netz) cohort. This work is being conducted in close collaboration with colleagues at the Institute of Human Genetics, whose expertise in host and psychiatric genomics provides an ideal environment for uncovering the biological pathways underlying Post-COVID Syndrome.
