Dr. Dominic Gosejacob

Dr. Dominic Gosejacob studied Biology and Human Medicine at the University of Bonn and received his PhD in Molecular Biomedicine. He is currently a Resident Physician in Neurology and a scientist with expertise in the analysis of lipid metabolism and the immune system, and their impact on metabolic and neurological disorders.

Utilizing transgenic animal models and lipidomics analyses, he has identified disease-relevant metabolic alterations, particularly in sphingolipid metabolism, and investigates mechanisms of lipotoxicity and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Another key research focus of Dr. Gosejacob is the investigation of cellular signaling pathways. He analyzes the regulation of the insulin signaling pathway, the function of the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR) and its repressor (AhRR), as well as mechanisms of EGFR signal transduction. He employed real-time FRET imaging to study the local organization of the second messenger cAMP in β-adrenergic signaling in adipocytes.

Furthermore, as part of the Clinician Scientist Program Neuro-aCSis, Dr. Gosejacob is investigating the role of the immune system in the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) in collaboration with the Beyer Group at the Department of Systems Medicine of the DZNE. He specifically examines the involvement of specific T cells and their functions to better understand immune-mediated disease mechanisms and develop therapeutic strategies.
