Welcome to the Studies organisation of dentistry
We would like to welcome you to the Dentistry program and wish you success in your studies.
In addition to providing outpatient and inpatient care , the training of students in the Dentistry program and the scientific advancement of the individual subdisciplines are among the essential tasks of a university institution such as the Center for Dental, Oral, and Maxillofacial Medicine.
Currently, approximately 540 students of dentistry are enrolled at the University of Bonn. It should be noted that students receive both scientific and practical training for their profession. The curriculum is taught not only through lectures and seminars, but also in preclinical courses using patient simulators and in clinical courses, primarily with patients. As a rule, according to the currently valid licensing regulations, students take the preliminary examination in natural sciences after two semesters and the preliminary examination in dentistry after five semesters, completing their dental studies after a total of ten semesters with the state examination.
Here you will find all the information you need about your studies. We have listed the topics specific to each stage of your studies for you.
You can also find further contact details for staff at the Dean's Office in our office hours section.

Graduation ceremony
What is the University Festival?
The University Festival is a celebration for graduates of all faculties at the University of Bonn. More detailed information about the schedule, venue, and other conditions of participation can be found here.
The University of Bonn was the first major traditional German university to introduce this festival as part of a new university culture of community and partnership. We want the numerous contacts and friendships you have made during your time in Bonn to continue and grow rather than end when you finish your studies.
Since July 9, 2005, the Bonn University Festival has been an integral part of our university culture and the city of Bonn.
Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine also receive commemorative certificate from the Dean and the Dean of Studies in formal ceremony, followed by the traditional hat-throwing ceremony with graduates from all faculties.
Who can participate?
Graduates of the Medical Faculty of Bonn include all graduates of human medicine, dentistry, and the master's programs in neurosciences, medical immunosciences and infection, and global health—risk management and hygiene policies.
Anyone who has received a degree by the current academic year shortly before the graduation ceremony is eligible to participate. This means that graduates from previous years can also participate in the graduation ceremony if they have not yet participated. However, the degree must not be more than 5 years old. Final eligibility to participate in the graduation ceremony will be determined after confirmation and approval by the relevant examination offices in mid to late June. Participating graduates do not need to be enrolled at the University of Bonn at the time of the event.
As a graduate of the Medical Faculty of Bonn, you also have the opportunity to register with the University of Bonn alumni network and make use of its services, offers, and specialist and regional groups.
