Prof. Dr. Bernd Weber, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in Bonn, welcomed the guests: “I am delighted that our contact with Tongji University School of Medicine has intensified so much in recent months. Our faculties have similar research focuses, including cardiology, immunology, and neuroscience. Close cooperation therefore offers great potential for both sides.”

The program included a tour of the grounds of the University Hospital Bonn (UKB). Guests were given insights into the Biomedical Center II (BMZ II), the FACS Facility, the neurology department, and the newly opened Heart Center.

Last May, a delegation of 14 medical students from Tongji University's Shanghai East International Medical Center spent two days visiting Bonn's Venusberg campus. The aim of the visit was to discuss professional matters and possible exchange formats. This was followed by return visits to China, during which students and professors took part in the TUSM Summer School, for example.

The Bonn Medical Faculty already maintains several international collaborations and sees the expansion of global partnerships as a central building block for future-oriented research and teaching. With its partnerships, it actively supports the internationalization of the University of Bonn.
