In this section, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our NGS services. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.
Under Getting started, you will find all the information you need to begin using the services of the NGS Core Facility.
Sample preparation depends on the service you require. After you have sent us an enquiry by email, we will provide you with a project sheet. Please note the guidelines for sample preparation in the "General Information" tab of the project sheet.
Sample submission is only possible after prior project registration and under a valid project ID. The NGS Core Facility lab accepts samples Monday to Thursday, between 1–2 pm. We are located on the 3rd floor of the Life & Brain building (C76).
To submit your samples, please dial 430 on the phone next to the elevator and have your project ID ready.
For RNA and protein samples, we strongly recommend shipping on dry ice, as proper storage and transport are critical for sample quality and accurate sequencing results. Please also avoid freeze-thaw cycles. DNA samples can be submitted on ice or at room temperature.
Our services are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. By combining projects on flow cells, we are able to optimize both cost and work efficiency. The exact processing time can vary depending on the protocol used, so we recommend reaching out to inquire about specific timelines. Generally, most applications are completed within 6-8 weeks, and often faster. If your project is time-sensitive, please contact us directly to discuss expedited options.
Once your samples have been processed, we will provide you with your FASTQ files via a download link that will be valid for 30 days. Alternatively, we can transfer your data to your local server or you can collect the data on a hard drive.
We guarantee the availability of your sequencing data for 6 months. Due to limited data storage capacities, the NGS Core Facility is unable to offer long-term storage of your data.
