Equipment

The Core Facility Translational Proteomics specializes in processing proteomic samples in a clinical context using high-throughput methods. Liquid handling systems prepare a variety of sample types, including cell and tissue lysates as well as biofluids, for proteomic measurements. State-of-the-art liquid chromatography mass spectrometry systems provide highly sensitive and precise proteomics data, enhancing scientific projects with high-quality results.

Liquid Chromatography - Mass spectrometry

Thermo Orbitrap Astral high-resolution MS

High-speed, high-sensitivity hybrid mass spectrometer with a novel design mass analyzer

The Orbitrap Astral mass spectrometer combines well-established mass analyzers (quadrupole and Orbitrap analyzer) with a completely new time-of-flight-like analyzer type: the Asymmetric Track Lossless (Astral) analyzer. While the Orbitrap analyzer is known for high dynamic range and high-resolution acquisition, the Astral analyzer excels in scan speed and sensitivity. When operated in data-independent acquisition (DIA) mode, the system achieves a scan speed of 200 Hz at a resolution of 80,000 and provides single ion detection sensitivity. Synchronized operation among the three analyzers enables a nearly 100% duty cycle.

Thermo Vanquish Neo ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography

The Thermo Vanquish Neo liquid chromatography system is suitable for high throughput, reproducibility, and sensitivity and therefore the system of choice for clinical samples. Direct injection or the utilization of trap columns, as well as the broad range of flow rates, including nanoliter-, capillary-, and microliter flow rates, make the system very versatile and suitable for all of our offered workflows.

High-speed, high-sensitivity hybrid mass spectrometer with an additional ion separation dimension

The timsTOF Pro 2 mass spectrometer separates ion species by their mass-to-charge ratio in the quadrupole and their collisional cross sections using a dual Trapped Ion Mobility Spectrometry (TIMS) analyzer. By Parallel Accumulation Serial Fragmentation (PASEF®), the timsTOF Pro 2 offers an additional dimension for peptide separation and reaches a close to 100% duty cycle at a scan speed of >120 Hz. The fast and ultrasensitive time-of-flight (TOF) analyzer provides high-resolution results at near single-ion detection sensitivity.

Thermo Stellar mass spectrometer

High-speed, high-sensitivity mass spectrometer for targeted quantitation of thousands of molecules in a single run

The Stellar mass spectrometer combines robust triple-quadrupole technology with an ultrafast and sensitive dual-pressure linear ion trap analyzer. Its strength is the targeted quantitation of thousands of molecules, for example, peptide species. Software specifically developed for the Stellar MS facilitates the automated transfer of results from discovery measurements into targeted methods.

Evosep One ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography

The Evosep One liquid chromatography system is suitable for high throughput, reproducibility, and sensitivity and, therefore, the system of choice for clinical samples. Standardized sample preparation, automated sample loading, and predefined chromatographic gradients are the unique features of this system.

Robust and reproducible liquid handling system for high throughput digestion

The Agilent AssayMap Bravo is a liquid handling system optimized for the high throughput processing of proteomics samples. Predesigned protocols for protein in-solution and protein aggregation capture (PAC) digestion, as well as procedures for immunoprecipitation and enrichment of posttranslationally modified peptides, e.g., phosphopeptides, allow streamlined processing of proteomics samples. The system is highly robust and reproducible and keeps batch effects as small as possible, a prerequisite for clinical proteomics studies.
