Users who have previously created an account for another core facility do NOT need to create a new account. For EXTERNAL users: Please fill out the request form found in the PPMS portal to get access to the PPMS system.
Access to the BTC-Cloud and Isilon-Servers
To get access to the BTC-Cloud and Isilon-Servers please fill out this form. The access to the servers has to be requested additionally to the PPMS registration and can only be granted to internal UKB staff.
General:
Introductory training and a brief formal orientation are mandatory for all users before they begin using the instrument. Training is provided on the use of the analyzers and the MA900™ Cell Sorter. Aria™ III, Aria™ Fusion, and FACSDiscover™ S8 cell sorters will be operated by Core staff ONLY. All experiments must be discussed and scheduled in advance with a Core Facility staff member. We do not allow access to the instruments to users who have not been directly trained by Core staff.
It is imperative that you plan your experiments carefully. The Core is always available to discuss protocols and procedures prior to implementation, and we strongly encourage you to come to us before starting a new experiment to avoid costly mistakes. This includes confirming that the fluorescent labels and their combinations can be analyzed on the instrumentation we have available at the Core.
Any non-routine multicolor/multifluorochrome experiment (i.e. unfamiliar/never done before) that you wish to do should HAVE a pilot experiment done first. In our experience, although our instruments theoretically have very high multicolor capability, such as the ID7000™ spectral instruments, antibody titering and instrument setup and compensator unmixing is not trivial and may require several pilot runs to work out. It is imperative that you discuss any complex multicolor experiment with a key staff member prior to scheduling and/or ordering supplies to avoid any problems or misunderstandings. This is even more important if you plan to use the multicolor capabilities of the cell sorter. Good communication with the Cell Sorter operator is also essential to the success of your sorting experiments.
The Aria™ Fusion cell sorter, located in a S2 laboratory, is capable of performing biosafety level S2 cell sorting. Please ensure that any S2 applications are announced in advance.
