ilastik Workshop
Our hands-on mini-workshop on using machine learning (with ilastik) for electron microscopy (EM) image analysis, tailored for two researchers - ideally with active EM projects. You will work on a curated exemplary EM dataset to cover dataset preparation, pixel and object classification, and feature extraction without coding. Participants will generate probability maps and label masks, and export results for downstream pipelines. The focus is on understanding the principle of ilastik and machine learning.
Because seats are very limited (only two), please submit a brief application outlining your motivation and how you plan to apply ilastik in your work to assist our selection process.
During the workshop, we will use a FIB-SEM data stack generated by the Microscopy Core Facility to identify mitochondria. Ilastik, however, can be trained to recognize many other structures of interest. The goal is to convey the core principles of the tool and to provide hands-on experience with machine learning approaches.
